WordPress Multisite development for the CleanR environmental services group, bringing three brands into a single platform with accessibility solutions and customer portal integration.
CleanR is the largest environmental services group in Latvia — a company that serves more than 50,000 customers and recycles over 170,000 tonnes of waste every year. Behind a single name stand several brands with entirely different audiences and service ranges: household waste management for private individuals and apartment buildings, waste processing and recovery, and industrial waste management for manufacturing companies. The main challenge in building the site was to fit this diversity into a single technical solution so that each brand kept its own identity while the whole system remained manageable in one place.
The solution is built on a WordPress multisite architecture. Three separate brand sites run on a single technical core — CleanR for household waste management, CleanR Industry for waste processing and recovery, and Verso for industrial waste management — plus a shared landing page that directs visitors to the right brand. The multisite approach here is not a technical luxury but a practical necessity: the group is growing, new business lines keep joining, and building a separate site from scratch each time would be both costly and slow. Multisite lets all the brands share a single core, security updates, and maintenance, while each keeps its own design, navigation, and content structure.
This architecture is the cornerstone of the project. When the group launches a new service line or brand, it can be added as a new site within the existing multisite network rather than as a separate, newly built project. Administration happens in one place: one update, one security policy, one maintenance environment for multiple sites at once. For the company, this means lower maintenance costs and faster rollout of new business lines; for the user, it means a consistent, recognisable experience regardless of which brand’s site they land on.
The content is structured around real user searches, which is also the foundation of its SEO. People usually arrive with a specific question: how to schedule household waste collection, what the recycling collection schedule is, where the nearest recycling point is, or how to change container size or collection frequency. That’s why the site has a structured FAQ section, divided by topic — collection, management, sorting — so the most common answers are one step away rather than a call to the customer service centre. News items are tagged by municipality, so residents see exactly the tariff and schedule changes for their own area, which makes the site useful for local searches.
A dedicated location-based search tool for recycling collection points was also built — one of the site’s most practical and frequently used features. In the environmental services field, where information about schedules, tariffs, and sorting options is relevant to every resident, this kind of functionality directly reduces the load on customer support and improves service accessibility.
Special attention in the project was given to accessibility. The site has an “Easy to read” version with simplified language, an alternative “Eco view” display mode, and a publicly available accessibility statement. Since this is a service that affects every resident without exception, information about waste collection and tariffs needs to be reachable even for those who find a standard interface too complex or who use a screen reader.
The public site is integrated with the manai.videi.lv customer self-service portal, where contracts, invoices, and collection schedules are managed. This division is deliberate: the public part handles information, navigation, and acquiring new customers, while the portal handles all transactions and account management. The result is a well-organised, scalable platform that serves three brands at once and is ready for the group’s continued growth.
