Rietumu Ziņas — Kurzeme news portal

Rietumu Ziņas is a regional news portal run by the media company SIA “TV Kurzeme.” It serves as the TV channel’s digital platform, covering current events in Liepāja, Kurzeme, Latvia, and the world — from local news and community topics to video reports and newscasts.

Our task was to build a modern, fast, and easily manageable news portal capable of handling a large volume of content. We developed a custom design and a tailored WordPress theme that delivers a clear content structure by category, convenient navigation, and a pleasant reading experience on both desktop and mobile.

We integrated several features into the portal: multilingual support in five languages (Latvian, English, Lithuanian, Russian, and Ukrainian), a user registration and login system, a video content and TV programs section, an events calendar, polls, and the ability for readers to submit their own articles and news tips. We also carried out SEO optimization of the content to improve the portal’s visibility in search engines.

The result is a feature-rich, fast, and sustainable news portal that strengthens the local media outlet’s role in the digital space and provides quality content access to a wide audience.
